How JWR Insurance began its journey
Our story starts in the rugged landscapes of Wyoming, where insurance was more than a business—it was a promise to protect neighbors.
In 2006, JWR Insurance wasn't started by corporate planners in a distant headquarters.
It began with one man's frustration. A Casper family—friends of the founder—had been loyal insurance customers for years. Then they filed one hail claim after a Wyoming summer storm. The settlement? Lowball offer, zero explanation, from an agent located somewhere in a call center
who'd never seen Wyoming weather.
That's when Jack Jameson decided: Our neighbors deserve better.
He opened JWR Insurance with one promise: Build the kind of insurance company you'd actually want to buy from. One where you talk to real people who live in your town. One where a claim isn't a fight—it's what we do. One where "sorry, that's our policy" never means you're left hanging.
From a single office in downtown Casper with one advisor and a borrowed desk, JWR's first clients were literally neighbors. Word spread because people could actually reach someone on the phone. Claims got resolved fairly. Recommendations made sense in the context of your actual life, not a commission structure.
Within the first three years, we'd grown to two locations. Within ten, we had offices across Wyoming. Not because we were chasing growth. But because families kept telling friends: "These people actually care."
Twenty years later, JWR operates 10 locations across Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah.
We've protected over 15,000 families. We've paid out $500+ million in claims.
But here's what hasn't changed: We still answer our own phones. We still believe that a customer isn't a transaction. We still operate with the principle Jack started with: Do what's right, even when it's harder.
